This note was accompanied by the book Instructions to Employees of the United States Lighthouse Service, 1927. It was considered government property and had to be accounted for when the Keeper left the Station via transfer/retirement/resignation/firing/etc. All government owned items were made accountable by the exiting Keeper on a tally sheet which was presented to the succeeding Keeper and reviewed by the District Inspector on his next visit.
