FRISCO, NC - George Winfield Austin, 82, a retired lighthouse keeper, died Wednesday [June 27, 1979] in Public Health Service Hospital in Norfolk, Va.
A lifelong resident of Frisco, he was the husband of Mrs. Maggie Whidbee Austin. He was a member of Frisco United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Geraldine Fuller and Mrs. Ben Hamilton of Frisco, and Mrs. Elwood Austin and Mrs. Miller Gray of Hatteras; a son, Vernon Austin of Newcastle, Delaware; a sister, Mrs. Viola Willis, and a brother, Shafter Austin, of Harkers Island; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to Twiford Island Chapel where arrangements are pending.
