Comments:

Identical to the Redfish Bar and Halfmoon Shoal Light Stations, the Clopper's Bar Light Station was built in 1854 to help mariners navigate what was then a particularly difficult journey into the Galveston Harbor. Built on screwpiles and painted all white, Clopper's Bar was fairly regular for its time, and held a fifth order Fresnel lens. Eventually, channel improvements rendered the lighthouse useless to navigation, and it was discontinued in April of 1880. The lighthouse was listed as a daymark as late as 1888.
