The funeral of Sidney Atherton, who died of pneumonia on January 12, was held from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Atherton, 1404 Lakewood Avenue. Burial was in Bonnie Brae Cemetery.
Besides his parents he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie Atherton; three sisters, Misses Ora and Effie Atherton, of Hudgins, WV, Mrs. A. Davis, Broadwater, Va., and one brother, Richard Atherton, who is not at sea.
Mr. Atherton, who at the time of his death was first officer of the lighthouse tender Orchid, entered the Lighthouse Service in 1907.
