Originally there were 3 identical cottages for the Principal, 1st Assistant and 2nd Assistant. Each had a storehouse with Privy on the back of the storehouse. After electrification, the USLHS deemed the 2nd Assistant position expendable. The position was eliminated in 1933. Each Keeper moved over one house. The original Principal Keeper's cottage and storehouse were placed up for auction. The Station's neighbor, Herbert Malcolm, owner of the neighboring Hillsboro Club purchased both and moved them across the border. The storehouse was dismantled. In 2005, the cottage was torn down due to neglect and the cost for repair. A mostly accurate copy was erected on that site. The site on the lighthouse reservation where the cottage was is vacant.
