1999 - the entire Station was moved 2,900 feet from the original location further inland away from the eroding shoreline.
2020 - the lighthouse closed to climbers
2024 - $19.2 million restoration project begun. Several layers of paint will be removed and extensive masonry work will follow. Approximately 40,000 bricks (or 15% of the total) are to be replaced. Original brick was produced in Maryland. The cast iron around the windows is to be replicated from unique molds and replaced.
