The first Lahaina harbor lighthouse was built in 1840 to help guide mariners to the harbor. The lighthouse was rebuilt several times and the current structure - a 39 foot concrete pyramidal structure was built in 1917. In 2009 it was converted to solar power.
In August of 2023 devastating wild fires destroyed much of Lahaina harbor. The lighthouse survived but most structures around it were fully consumed by the fire.
