Comments:

The original "Three Sisters" were replaced by new towers in 1892. Two of the lights were deactivated, leaving the center light as the only one in service in 1911. In 1918, the two defunct towers -- after their lanterns had been removed -- were sold into private ownership. In 1923, the remaining tower was replaced by a cast-iron lighthouse tower moved from Chatham, and the third of the Three Sisters was sold to a private owner. In the 1970s, the Three Sisters were bought back by the National Park Service. A restoration was completed by 1989. The Sisters were reunited on a site on Cable Road in Eastham, about 1,800 feet from the beach. (www.newenglandlighthouses.net)
