First day of Service - August 15, 1824

  • The original wooden staircase survived until the 1950's. It was removed by the U.S.C.G. and replaced with the metal one currently in place.
  • Elevation of the Keeper's cottage began in 2024 and is hoped to be completed by 2027. The first floor will be a museum; second floor will serve as a dwelling for National Park Service Rangers.
