Comments:
  • Gurnet was the 8th lighthouse station in the colonies
  • First tower built in 1768 which burned down. Second permanent tower built in 1803.
  • This station had two towers. In 1922 two light stations were deemed obsolete as they had been discontinued in the rest of the world. The plan was to remove one tower, and make the remaining light more distinctive.
