On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian destroyed most of the Station, washing away the Keeper's Cottages, Oil House & Cisterns. The lighthouse stood, but suffered damage to the lowest section of the left leg and horizontal bar, in line with the entrance door.
January 2024 a replacement leg and entrance staircase were installed on the lighthouse. No plans were set for rebuilding the cottages.
