Comments:

Privately funded and constructed as a faux lighthouse by Jim Gibbs. He applied for, and was granted official light status by the US Coast Guard. The Skunk Bay Lighthouse Association, a group of 12 families, purchased the location in 1971 and have maintained the station since, adding on living accommodations.
