Starting in min 1920's, 6 wooden/riprap jetties were installed on the ocean beach to curb erosion. They were in constant need of repair and big storms destroyed them. Inspector Beck had wanted a granite jetty for years, but could not get cooperation until 1930. The jetty remains to this day with only minor movement of some of the granite at the far edge.
